Chessington World of Adventures

Chessington World of Adventures is a thrilling theme park and zoo located in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, just outside central London. It’s an excellent destination for families and thrill-seekers alike, offering a wide range of attractions including over 40 rides, a zoo with more than 1,000 animals, and a SEA LIFE centre. Seasonal events like the Summer Festival, Halloween, and Christmas celebrations make it a year-round favorite. Tickets include access to the theme park, zoo, SEA LIFE centre, live shows, and events. Additional VIP experiences such as animal encounters or climbing adventures at Chessington’s Go Ape are available for extra costs.

For a more relaxed experience, consider turning your trip into a short break by staying at Chessington Resort hotels, such as the Azteca or Safari Resort Hotels, or Explorer Glamping. Partner hotels like the Holiday Inn are also available. Many accommodations offer packages that include park entry. If you book a resort stay, you may even receive free entry on the second day.

Tickets are best booked online in advance to save money, avoid gate prices, and secure availability. Prices vary depending on the season and day of the week, with cheaper options available off-peak. Group discounts, promotional offers like 2-for-1 deals, and passes like the Merlin Annual Pass can provide further savings. Children under 90cm and carers receive free entry, and the park has a “Return Promise” for weather disruptions, allowing you to return within nine months for free.

The park is best suited for children aged 5–13, but there’s something for everyone. Highlights include popular rides like the Gruffalo River Ride for little ones, Mandrill Mayhem (a Jumanji-themed upside-down ride), and the classic Vampire coaster. Queues can vary depending on the season and time of day, but a Reserve & Ride system is available to skip the lines for up to 26 rides.

Chessington offers a variety of food options, including burgers, pizza, and hot dogs, but picnics are also welcome to help save on costs. The park is fully wheelchair accessible, and wheelchairs can be rented on-site.

Open year-round, Chessington operates from 10am to 5–7pm depending on the season. Located on Leatherhead Road in Surrey, it’s easily accessible by car (parking fees apply) or train. South West Railways services run from London Waterloo to Chessington South Station, a short 10-minute walk from the park.

Chessington is part of the Merlin family, so a Merlin Annual Pass provides free entry alongside access to other attractions like LEGOLAND Windsor, Thorpe Park, and the London Eye. Additionally, Chessington is included in the London Pass, which offers access to over 90 attractions across the city.
